FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What is hydroponic farming?
Hydroponic farming is a type of horticulture in which plants, usually crops, are grown without soil. Instead of using soil, hydroponics grows plants by exposing their roots directly to a nutrient-rich water-based mineral nutrient solution.
Do you use pesticides?
Nope! We do not use any pesticides or harmful chemicals in our farm.
Is the produce organic?
We are not certified organic because we do not grow in soil. However, we strive to find the best seeds (organic when we can) and do not use pesticides, herbicides or any harmful chemicals.
Is the produce Non-GMO?
Yes! All our seeds are purchased through Johnny's Selected Seeds - one ofthe original signers of the Safe Seed Pledge and advocators for non-GMO seed production.
Why does some of the lettuce have the roots still attached?
Our living lettuce heads still have the roots attached because leaving the roots on allows the lettuce to live longer. And the longer your lettuce lives, the longer it stays fresh on the shelf and in your fridge. Our living lettuce heads stay fresh for up to 21 days.
